On the peripheries of the ‘Domstad’ one can find Kabul à GoGo, a multifunctional event space and club founded and run by Omar Waseq. Omar took us through his journey from an Afghan refugee in the 90’s to a cultural organizer with multiple impactful organizations behind his name in Utrecht. The conversation with Omar is filled with subjects of resilience and resistance, Kabul a Gogo’s start, some of the (mis)conceptions and prejudice that accompanied it, its current thriving state and the necessary redevelopment that preceded it.
