For the eleventh episode of Lunch__Breaks I've brought some ambient, funk, soul, jazz-funk. Records that I'm enjoying at the moment, very much influenced by the gift of beautiful weather that we've had in the Netherlands lately.
About the first track by Glenn Campbell, called Wichita Lineman: this famous song from 1968 is a widely known classic. Yet, I didn’t know it. But ever since I heard it, I couldn’t get it out of my mind. It’s slightly melancholic yet sweet-feeling lyrics transport me directly to the US in the 60’s, which is probably a completely incorrect image. Yet, I love music that does just that, creating a picture in your mind of a certain time, place or feeling without even exactly knowing what you should think of. In that way it’s inspirational. That’s why I continued the show with more ambient sounds, to extend that time of thinking about -and feeling the song.
