Tradition Transmission - EP. 1
The first episode of Tradition Transmission by dream0 explores the tradition of harvest as both a material process and a recurring cultural rhythm: preparing the soil, working collectively, gathering what has grown, returning the land to silence, and starting again.
Archival work songs and recordings of agricultural rituals are placed alongside field recordings, dub, ambient music, psychedelic folk and contemporary electronics from different parts of the world. Rather than separating traditional and electronic music, the mix listens for the continuities between them: repetition, communal rhythm, environmental sound, physical labour and celebration.
Sounds of weather, insects, animals and open landscapes gradually give way to voices, percussion and denser rhythmic passages. Earlier pieces return later in the mix, creating a circular structure that reflects the agricultural cycle of growth, harvest, decay and renewal.
