For the 14th show of Lunch__Breaks, I thought it would be nice to explore some deeper sounds. The first track is Amina, by the The circling sun – it’s from the album orbits. This is the second album by this amazing jazz ensemble from New Zealand that came out on Soundway Records. It’s jazz-fusion, with hints of other genres, and overall it’s a very interesting and captivating sound. One could name it spiritual jazz, with inspiration from aritsts like Alice Coltrane, Sun Ra.
What I enjoy about this specific album is the way the music feels like entering a dream state. The sound is very light and is a delight to just listen to, while at the same time it has some form of primal deepness in it. As I love this type of jazz, and especially this record, it seemed only right to open the show two tracks from the album Hope you appreciate “Orbits” as much as I do.
