Vluchtelingenkind x PIP Radio is a collaborative project we did with the team of Vluchtelingenkind.

Het Vluchtelingenkind is a social, volunteer based organization that fills the gap that refugee children end up in when they are placed in shelter with or without parents. They offer refugee children in the Netherlands what every child is entitled to: a meaningful connection with other children, recreational opportunities and preparation for education. They want to ensure that refugee children do not become second-class citizens. All children have the same basic rights.

Vluchtelingenkind offers a recreational program to ensure that children can play, do sports, make friends and get to know the Dutch language and customs in a playful way. The day care is aimed at promoting self-confidence, social integration and language skills. They do this by offering creative, educational and sporting activities.

As part of our collaborative program, we organized a DJ workshop for the children and started a long term art project with the children in which the children create customized made-to-order PIP Radio x Vluchtelingen rugs under the guidance of the volunteers at Vluchtelingenkind. In addition, we interviewed some of the core members of the team to get an understanding of the organizations goals, people, activities and journey so far.
