The goal of the Naaierij is to let people look at clothing with a creative and conscious eye and to teach them to repair or alter clothing themselves. You will learn this during their workshops & courses. In addition, you can use their help in the repair café without any knowledge of sewing or repairing for an amount per hour and breathe new life into (damaged) clothing.
If you prefer not to touch a needle to thread yourself, De Naaierij also offers a clothing repair service, where we mainly focus on creative and original repairs (see our Instagram for examples).
With all these options they try to reduce the throwing away of clothing and to encourage that repaired clothing is worn with pride.
At De Naaierij we organize a clothing swap once every two months. Here you exchange your own clothing for clothing from someone else's wardrobe. After all, there is already enough clothing in the world, so why always buy new?
In addition, De Naaierij sells second-hand sewing machines, fabric and clothing, offers sewing machine maintenance and they are a point of Lena Library and a fitting/sales location for binders.
