Challenging elitism in the artistic system with Hamid Hoveyda

Under the Surface

In this interview, we start from the questions "when do we stop drawing? When do we stop believing we could be artists?"  to delve into a deeper conversation about what is the role of art and artistic spaces in contemporary society. This journey is led by Hamid Hoveyda, whose artistic pratice goes back to the root of art: the gesture.

In his performance in Rome "I like Roma, Orma likes me", Hoveyda challenges the base of the artistic system: the artist is no longer at the center of the exhibition, and the audience's creativity has full agency on the artwork.
