Q&A
Could you start by telling us who you are and what kind of music you make?
I am Liso, i make fast psychedelic music somewhere in the realm between trance & tekno.
As an artist from The Hague, what unique sound or energy do you bring to ADE?
I like a certain rawness, a certain functionality in the music that i make & play. It doesnt need to be interesting or complex per se, it needs to work on the floor. I dabble between, powerful/angry, mysterious/psychedelic & sexy/groovy.
How did this booking come about. Did ADE reach out, or was it through your own network?
Through my own network. Kølt and I go back a while.
What makes you happiest about being here; the recognition, collaboration, or contribution?
Collaboration & contribution. It’s all about the magic created in the moment, which depends on everybody doing their part.
Does ADE feel like just another gig, or does it hold a special place for you?
I care more about the collective and the venue (the people), and less about the brand ADE.
Since its start in 1996, ADE has evolved a lot - what changes stand out to you in the music or industry side?
Oof. I’m quite a rookie, so I can’t say much. Since i’ve been aware of ADE (last 10yrs or so), it’s always seemed essentially the same to me.
What trends are you noticing right now; in sound, performance style, or audience energy?
In my opinion, things have been steering too deep, too serious lately. Bring back energy & ecstasy on the floor!
What advice would you give to up-and-coming artists who want to be part of ADE?
Work on your craft, find likeminded people and build something unique from the ground up. Don’t chase what others have built.
How does this year’s ADE experience compare to others you’ve had?
This one was very sweet as there were two parties I loved (hyperwaves/oraclebones & kølt). Usually I kind of avoid it because of how busy it is, and I’m generally not interested in the big names
As a Dutch artist, how do you see ADE’s role in bridging the national and global electronic music scenes?
We’re incredibly lucky to be next to the epicenter of dance music. It comes with many many privileges which I’m very thankful for.
